Qualifications:
High school graduate, Registered Nurse, Knowledge of Public Health State and Federal rules and regulations.
Read and write English.
Communication skills required.
Two (2) years nursing home experience preferred.
Essential Functions:
1.
Ability to assume responsibility for the development of nursing service objectives, performance standards of nursing practice for each category of nursing personnel, and nursing policies and procedures.
2.
Ability to assume accountability for the development, organization and implementation of approved policies and procedures.
3.
Ability to direct, evaluate and supervise all resident care and initiate corrective action as necessary.
4.
Ability to assess resident care needs and assist in the development of individualized plans of resident care.
5.
Ability to assess resident needs and make recommendations for special rehabilitations programs.
6.
Ability to evaluate resident care as related to individualized resident needs, family involvement and the physician's plan of care for the resident.
7.
Ability to assess resident responses to medication and treatment, and make appropriate recommendations for nursing action to be implemented.
8.
Ability to report problems to the Administrator, conduct daily resident rounds and initiate corrective action as necessary.
9.
Ability to identify safety hazards and initiate corrective action.
10.
Ability to direct implementation of Resident's Rights policies at all times.
11.
Ability to direct and implement nursing service educational programs including, but not limited to, orientation and in-service for licensed and un-licensed nursing personnel.
12.
Ability to conduct staff meetings with all shifts for purposes of planning, coordinating and implementing nursing service policies and procedures.
13.
Ability to demonstrate consistent ability to manage nursing service problems, emergency situations, and initiate life saving measures in the absence of a physician.
14.
Ability to assume responsibility for nursing service compliance to federal, state and local regulations.
15.
Ability to participate in the planning and implementation of the nursing service budget.
16.
Ability to consistently operate nursing service within the budget guidelines established.
17.
Ability to direct allocation of nursing service equipment and supplies within the facility and establish guidelines for efficient, economical utilization of supplies and equipment.
18.
Ability to insure availability of equipment for nursing personnel.
19.
Ability to assess equipment and supply needs and make recommendations to Administrator.
20.
Ability to direct and supervise scheduling of employees within established guidelines for allocation of nursing service personnel on duty.
21.
Ability to recommend the number and level of personnel to be employed to the Administrator.
22.
Ability to conduct interview, hire nursing service employees, conduct counseling interviews and initiate disciplinary action as necessary, 23.
Ability to prepare written employee performance evaluations and initiate recommendations for salary increases, promotions, or terminations.
24.
Ability to control angry feelings and take disciplinary action(s) privately.
25.
Ability to participate in hospital committee meetings and function in committees as assigned.
26.
Ability to direct and organize required Medicare and Medicaid assessments and related documentation.
27.
Ability to consistently make level of care determinations, based on physician's recommendations and plan of a care, to assure a favorable waiver of liability status for the facility.
28.
Ability to make management reports and special assignments and adhere to established time schedules.
29.
Ability to establish open lines of communication with consultants and consistently take follow up action on recommendations.
30.
Ability to take inquiries for resident placement as assigned by the Administrator and initiate procedures for proper placement of residents and level of care determinations.
31.
Ability to communicate daily with nursing personnel providing clear, concise information as well as specific assignments.
32.
Ability to consistently demonstrate responsibility, accountability and dependability.
33.
Ability to consistently work cooperatively with hospital administration, nursing personnel, ancillary personnel, all hospital departments and consultants.
34.
Ability to come to work in a clean, neat uniform and consistently present a professional appearance.
35.
Ability to observe infection control procedures.
36.
Ability to be responsible for safety of residents under his/her supervision.
37.
Ability to handle emergency situations in a calm, effective manner.
38.
Ability to follow fire and disaster procedures during a drill and actual occurrence.
39.
Ability to observe Resident's Rights policies at all times.

Ability to observe all facility safety policies and procedures.
41.
Ability to assume accountability for all data contained in the employees' handbook.

Ability to accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.

Ability to perform other related duties as directed by the Administrator.
